
Brian Gilbert Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Seton Hall sophomore Brian Gilbert (Toms River, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
The right-hander threw a complete-game, shutout while scattering just four hits in Seton Hall's 2-0 victory over Notre Dame, Saturday at Owen T. Carroll Field. The victory provided a series sweep for Seton Hall and improved the team's record to 5-4 in conference play. It's the first complete-game of Gilbert's career and his six strikeouts were also a career-high. Gilbert improved to 2-3 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.34.
West Virginia's Matt Frazer was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Those on the Weekly Honor Roll include Cincinnati's Ryan Atkinson, Connecticut's LJ Mazzilli, Louisville's Justin Thompson, St. John's Brett Dennis and Villanova's Connor Jones.
The Pirates will return to the diamond on Tuesday, April 10, when they travel to Princeton to take on the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Seton Hall will return to Owen T. Carroll Field on Wednesday, April 11, it hosts Wagner.
