
MGolf Looks to Defend Towson Title

GRASONVILLE, MD. – The Seton Hall men’s golf team will begin tournament play this spring with the Whiting-Turner Towson University Invitational, March 31-April 2 at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md. The Pirates will be looking to defend their team title in this event. Seton Hall won the Towson Invitational in a playoff last year with a 7-over-par, 294-284-293-871. However, only one of the five golfers that competed in last year’s event will take the course this season. Only junior Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) has experience on the course. Dunne had one of the finest performances of his collegiate career with a 1-over-par, 71-71-75-217, in last year’s event. He tied for seventh among 120 individual golfers. Joining Dunne this year will be David Cha (Carrollton, Texas), JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.), Kamaal Khatumal (Sierra Leone, West Africa) and Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.). Joining Seton Hall and host Towson are 22 other teams including: Bethune-Cookman, Binghamton, Canisius, Central Connecticut State, Colgate, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, IUP, Iona, Lehigh, LIU-Brooklyn, Longwood, Loyola (Md.), Mount St. Mary’s, Navy, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Siena, St. Bonaventure, St. Peter’s, UMES and William & Mary. Prospect Bay Country Club is a par-72 course, measuring 6,659 yards. The teams will play three rounds over three days. Seton Hall will be paired with Central Connecticut and Fairfield for round one and will begin teeing off at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
