GRASONVILLE, MD. – The Seton Hall men’s golf team shot six strokes better in the second round to rise five places in the standings at the 2013 Whiting Turner Towson Invitational following round two. The Pirates fired a 19-over-par, 307, in the second round on Monday to improve from a 12
th place tie after round one to a seventh place tie after round two. Overall, Seton Hall is 44-over-par with a 313-307-620, and trails the team leader, William & Mary, by 37 strokes. William & Mary have a 20-stroke lead on Indiana University of Pennsylvania for the tournament lead.
Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) and
David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) were the Pirate leaders in round two. Both shot a 4-over-par, 76. Cha continues to lead the Pirates for the tournament and is currently tied for 27
th place among 123 individual golfers with a 9-over-par, 77-76-153. Wilson is tied for 42
nd place overall with an 11-over-par, 79-76-155.
One of the golfers tied with Wilson for 42nd place is teammate J.T. Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.). Harper is also 11-over-par with a 77-78-155.
Junior Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) is two strokes behind Wilson and Harper with a 13-over-par, 80-77-157. Kamaal Khatumal (Sierra Leone, West Africa) rounds out the Pirates’ scoring and is 20-over-par with an 82-82-164.
Seton Hall will return to the links tomorrow for the third and final round at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md.
