
Softball Falls to Valparaiso

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Seton Hall University softball team fell to Valparaiso, 24-1, on the second day of the Campbell University Hampton Inn Stampede Classic on Saturday evening in Buies Creek, N.C.
Senior third baseman Meredith Henze (Elkton, Md.) continued her hot streak at the plate, hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, her second long ball of the weekend.
Through the first three games of the tournament Henze has been on fire at the plate, hitting .500 (4-for-8) with three extra base hits for a 1.375 slugging percentage with five RBIs and four runs scored.
Junior Colltey Sheldon (Peoria, Ariz.) picked up her fourth base hit of the weekend, going 1-for-2 against Valparaiso; she is hitting .400 over the first three games of the season, scoring twice.
Valparaiso got off to a fast start on Saturday night, scoring four runs in each of the first two innings to stake claim to an 8-0 lead. The Crusaders tallied 21 hits in the game but the Pirates committed four fielding errors to allow several unearned runs late in the game.
Seton Hall concludes competition at the Campbell Hampton Inn Stampede Classic on Sunday afternoon when it takes on tournament host Campbell at 1:30 p.m.
