NEW BRITAIN, CONN.- The Seton Hall baseball team had its five-game win streak snapped in a 1-0, seven-inning loss at Central Connecticut State in game one of Saturday's double-header.
Despite a BIG EAST-best .325 team batting average, the Pirates could only muster four hits off CCSU starter Tom Coughlin who went the distance on a complete-game shutout.
Junior Kyle Grimm (Bergenfield, N.J.) was the lone Pirate with multiple hits. He went 2-for-3. Chris Chiaradio (Teaneck, N.J.) and Alex Falconi (Freeport, N.Y.)had the other two hits for Seton Hall.
Seton Hall (17-5) starter Conor Krauss (Randolph, N.J.)went 4.1 innings and gave up one earned run. He struck out four batters and walked three.
Krauss' control failed him in the bottom of the fourth as Central Connecticut State got on the scoreboard. Krauss walked two batters and issued two wild pitches, the second of which plated the Blue Devils' lone run.
Dan Ditusa (St. Charles, Ill.) pitched a perfect 1.2 innings of relief for Seton Hall.
