GRASONVILLE, MD. - Freshmen Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) and Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) fired a 4-over-par, 76, to lead the Seton Hall golf team to an eighth place standing after round one at the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational.
Collectively, the Pirates fired a 25-over-par, 313, in round one and trail the team leader, Fairleigh Dickinson, by 14 strokes. Seton Hall is only four strokes away from third place, so there will be plenty of opportunity to move up the standings in Tuesday's final round.
Senior Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) shot an 8-over-par, 80, while JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) was one stroke behind Dunne with a 9-over-par, 81.
Sophomore Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) rounded out the Pirates' scoring with an 11-over-par, 83.
Twenty-two teams are competing for two rounds over two days on the par-72, 6,659-yard course. In addition to Seton Hall and two Towson teams, participating schools include: California University of PA, Central Connecticut, Colgate, Fairfield, Fairleigh Dickinson, George Washington, VCU, Hofstra, Iona, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Long Island, Northern Colorado, Rider, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, Siena, St. Bonaventure and St. Peter's.
Results will be available at SHUpirates.com following each round's completion.
