The 2013-14 year was a momentous one for Seton Hall Athletics as the Pirates made their mark in the first year of a revamped BIG EAST Conference.
From the hardwood to the field, the pitch to the pool or on the course, the was no shortage of memorable moments across all 14 varsity athletic programs as Seton Hall student-athletes continued to honor and further the university's proud athletic tradition
.Over the final two weeks of July, SHUPirates.com in conjunction with College Hunks Hauling Junk will reveal its countdown of the Top-10 moments from the year that was.
Checking in at number six on our list is the performance of Seton Hall pitcher Josh Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J.) on May 2 at Creighton.
#6. Ace High
Billed as the marquee BIG EAST pitching matchup of the 2014 season, Prevost out-pitched Creighton's Matt Warren as the Pirates defeated the Bluejays, 8-2, in the opening game of a crucial three-game series at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.
Prevost entered the contest leading the BIG EAST with a 1.48 earned run average (ERA) and a 9-1 record, while Warren was a perfect 9-0 with a 1.67 ERA. The first four innings were just as advertised with each team only mustering one hit, until the Pirates broke through for a run in the fifth inning and five more in the seventh. Meanwhile, Prevost was simply masterful. The 6-foot-8 right-hander through a complete game, while giving up just two runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking two.
Prevost pitched all nine innings, scattering just three hits with two earned runs. He struck out seven and walked two.

A consensus All-American and Golden Spikes Award semifinalist Prevost went on to complete one of the most spectacular single-seasons for a pitcher in Seton Hall baseball history. Named the Pirates' first BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year since 1992, he was named conference Pitcher of the Week six times and to the Weekly Honor Roll and additional three times. Prevost was also named ECAC Pitcher of the Year, among 300 member schools, and NJCBA Pitcher of the Year as the top hurler in the State of New Jersey.
A unanimous First Team All-Conference selection, Prevost finished the 2014 season as the BIG EAST leader in wins, ERA, strikeouts, opponent batting average, innings pitched, complete games and shutouts. His 111 strikeouts rank third-most in Seton Hall history. Prevost's 12 victories tie him with former Pirates Phil Cundari and Rich Vichroski for most all-time. His 116.1 innings pitched is the second-most ever for a Pirate.
On June 6, Prevost was drafted in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the New York Mets.
