GOODYEAR, ARIZ. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to the links this Sunday for the first of three rounds at the Neville Kovacs Group Intercollegiate, hosted by Loyola University (Md.), at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.
The field will play 18 holes per day, Sunday through Tuesday, on the Club's Palm Course, measuring a par-72 at 7,015 yards.
Designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, Palm Valley Golf Club's Palms Course is one of the most popular championship Phoenix Arizona golf courses. The excellent layout provides a stiff challenge for accomplished players, yet it is flexible enough for novices to enjoy. One asset that sets Palm Valley Golf Club apart from other Phoenix Arizona golf courses is its diversity in play. The Palms Course has been rated among Arizona's best public golf courses by The Phoenix Business Journal, and the 18th hole is routinely cited by avid players as one of the best par-5s in the state.
Illinois State won a tie-breaker at 15-under par to claim the team title in this event in 2014. Seven of the 17 teams in the field shot under par for the tournament. St. John's Ryan McCormick won the individual crown also at 15-under-par. He shot an impressive 8-under-par, 64, in the opening round.
Seton Hall will bring the following golfers to Dade City, Fla., in order of lineup:
1. Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.)
2. JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.)
3. Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines)
4. Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.)
5. David Cha (Carrollton, Texas)
Seton Hall is coming off a fifth place tie at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play event in Dade City, Fla. nearly two weeks ago. The third round of play was halted due to poor weather, so Seton Hall had to settle for a fifth place tie following a 1-1 record. The Hall dropped a 4-2 decision to Ball State in the opening round, but defeated Florida Atlantic in a tie-breaker in round two. Go was the lone Pirate to win both of his matches. Snouffer, Harper and O'Brien all went 1-1.
