4/6/2015 12:00:00 AM | Men's Golf
UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASH. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to the links this Monday and Tuesday for 54 holes of the 2015 Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Club.
The field will play 36 holes on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday, on the par-70 at 7,341-yard course.
Joining Seton Hall is an impressive field of 17 other teams including: Boise State, British Columbia, Cal State Fullerton, Drexel, Fairleigh Dickinson, George Washington, Incarnate Word, Missouri-Kansas City, North Dakota State, Rutgers, Seattle U, South Dakota State, TCU, Utah, Utah Valley, Washington and William & Mary.
Chambers Bay, home of the 2015 United States Open Championship, is a unique tribute to the historic links of Scotland and Ireland. With Puget Sound providing a serene backdrop to Chambers Bay, this breathtaking layout winds through a stunning coastal setting, among windswept dunes and native fescue grasses. The snow-capped Olympic Mountains rim the western shore and eagles keep silent watch overhead. In every sense, Robert Trent Jones II has created an awe-inspiring design that is as spectacular as the beauty surrounding it.
Seton Hall will bring the following golfers to Washington, in order of lineup:
1. Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines)
2. Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.)
3. JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.)
4. Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.)
5. David Cha (Carrollton, Texas)
Seton Hall is coming off a third place finish at the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational last week. Go shot a 1-under-par, 70, in Sunday's final round to win the individual title. In the latest chapter of a sparkling start to a collegiate career, Go won his first individual tournament championship, overcoming a two-stroke deficit in the final 18 holes. The sophomore won the event with a 1-over-par, 73-71-143, for the tournament, one stroke ahead of Arkansas' Nicolas Echavarria. Go's win is the first individual title by a Seton Hall men's golfer since John Dawson Neufeld won the Rutgers Invitational on Sept. 11, 2010.
Collectively, Seton Hall shot 23 strokes better in round two to shoot up four spots in the standings to third place in the 23-team field. For the tournament, the Pirates were 45-over-par with a 318-295-613 finishing 24 strokes behind Arkansas for the team crown.
Both days will begin with a shotgun start. The teams will tee off at 8:00 a.m. PT on Monday and Tuesday.
Complete results of each day's events will be available following competition at SHUpirates.com and golfstat.com.
