UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASH. - Junior Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.) shot just 3-over-par over the first two rounds to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a third place standing with 18 holes remaining at the 2015 Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Club.
Snouffer is 3-over-par with a 71-72-143 and is tied for sixth place among 92 individual golfers entering Tuesday's final round. He currently trails Washington's Frank Garber, the individual leader, by seven strokes. Garber is the lone individual golfer currently under par for the tournament.
Collectively, Seton Hall is 25-over-par following a 294-291-585 on Monday. The Pirates trail only Washington and host Seattle in the field of 18 teams. Washington has a 24-stroke lead on the field, but Seattle is only two strokes ahead of The Hall entering the final round.
The Pirates played well on Monday, with their top four golfers all among the top-19 golfers in the field.
Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) and Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) are currently tied for 14th place at 7-over-par. Go shaved three strokes off his first round score with a 1-over-par, 72, in round two. He's currently has a 75-72-147. O'Brien was consistent with a 73-74-147.
Senior JT Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.) is only one stroke behind Go and O'Brien at 8-over-par. He is currently tied for 19th with a 75-73-148.
Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) is currently 21-over-par with an 82-79-161.
The field will play 36 holes on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday, on the par-70 at 7,341-yard course.
Joining Seton Hall is an impressive field of 17 other teams including: Boise State, British Columbia, Cal State Fullerton, Drexel, Fairleigh Dickinson, George Washington, Incarnate Word, Missouri-Kansas City, North Dakota State, Rutgers, Seattle U, South Dakota State, TCU, Utah, Utah Valley, Washington and William & Mary.
Chambers Bay, home of the 2015 United States Open Championship, is a unique tribute to the historic links of Scotland and Ireland. With Puget Sound providing a serene backdrop to Chambers Bay, this breathtaking layout winds through a stunning coastal setting, among windswept dunes and native fescue grasses. The snow-capped Olympic Mountains rim the western shore and eagles keep silent watch overhead. In every sense, Robert Trent Jones II has created an awe-inspiring design that is as spectacular as the beauty surrounding it.
