Pirates Fall At No. 19 Butler On Saturday Night
10/22/2016 9:27:00 PM | Men's Soccer
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Seton Hall men's soccer team (3-10-1, 1-5-0 BIG EAST) dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision at No. 19 Butler (9-4-1, 4-2-0) on Saturday night. The contest marked The Hall's penultimate road match of the season, with three contests in total remaining on the regular season schedule.
Julian Spindler (Weiersbach, Germany) tied a career-high with eight saves in the setback, including a pair on BIG EAST goals-leader David Goldsmith. The Bulldogs got on the board with a goal in the 21st minute and withstood consistent pressure from the Pirates in the second half for the shutout result. The Hall has now dropped back-to-back 1-0 matches in BIG EAST play.
Turning Point
The Pirates were the aggressor for much of the second half, and in the final moments came within inches of an equalizer. In the 88th minute, Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) swung a free kick from the right side into the center of the box. Matheus Miranda (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) leapt above a crowd of BU defenders and got a piece of the cross, but his attempt nicked the crossbar and was cleared away.
