FORT MYERS, FLA. - Junior Mikael-Ali Mogues (New York, N.Y.) collected a pair of hits, but the Seton Hall baseball team fell to No. 15 Missouri, 7-0, in the 2016 season opener on Friday.
Mogues went 2-for-3 with a double, but was the lone Pirate with multiple hits as Missouri starting pitcher Reggie McClain pitched eight shutout innings to earn the victory.
Seton Hall (0-1) starter Shane McCarthy (Fair Haven, N.J.) also pitched well, giving up just a solo home run to Missouri's Benes through the first four innings.
Turning Point:
With the game locked in a pitchers' duel, Missouri got to McCarthy again in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs and a runner on first base, the Pirate right-hander surrendered three straight singles, which plated two runs and extended the Missouri lead to 3-0.
In the seventh inning, Missouri broke the game open with four runs off of reliever Ryan Testani (Shelton, Conn.).
Seton Hall loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth inning, but weren't able to capitalize.
