PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA. - The Seton Hall baseball team took an early 3-0 lead, but Ohio State rebounded with nine unanswered runs to defeat the Pirates, 9-3, on Friday at the Snowbird Classic.
Starter Andrew Politi (Long Valley, N.J.) made his first career start, and held the high-powered Buckeye offense to without a hit for the first three innings. In the top of the fourth inning however, OSU's Jacob Bosiokovic led off with a home run to cut the Seton Hall lead to 3-1. Politi bounced back to retire the next two batters, but Ohio State rallied with two outs, and a single by Craig Nennig off Pirate reliever Zach Prendergast (Horsham, Pa.) scored two runs to tie the score at three.
Turning Point:
With the score still tied at three in the bottom of the six inning, Ohio State's Zach Radcliff singled up the middle with one out. A double by Brady Cherry put two runners in scoring position for the Buckeyes. With two outs, a balk by Prendergast forced in the go-ahead run.
Inside the Numbers:
- Sophomore Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) was the lone Pirate with multiple hits. He went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Freshman Chris Villa (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up his first career hit and RBI.
- Junior Joe Poduslenko (Glen Mills, Pa.) has driven in a run in each of the first two Snowbird Classic games.
- Prendergast took the loss. He falls to (1-2).
- Senior Derek Jenkins (Annandale, N.J.) returned to the lineup after missing three games. He went 1-for-4 with his six stolen base of the season. He also extended his hitting streak to six games.
- Seton Hall left five men on base, while Ohio State left eight.
News & Notes:
- With a steal today, Jenkins now has 76 for his career, which ranks 10th all-time at Seton Hall. He needs eight more to pass Joe Cuervo for ninth on the list.
- With the loss, Seton Hall falls to 4-5 all-time against Ohio State.

Seton Hall will complete play at the 2016 Snowbird Classic tomorrow morning when it faces Indiana. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
