SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Five pitchers held Quinnipiac to just one run on three hits as the Seton Hall baseball team completed a three-game sweep of the Bobcats with a 4-1 victory in game two of Saturday's double-header.
Senior Derek Jenkins (Annandale, N.J.) led the Pirates with three hits and stole two more bases, adding to his national lead of 29 for the season.
Seton Hall (20-8) scored two runs in each of the first two innings, and that's all the offense the Pirates needed. In the bottom of the first inning, the first three batters all singled, the third of which, by Zack Weigel (Oak Park, Ill.) drove in the first run of the game. Mikael-Ali Mogues (New York, N.Y.) grounded into a double-play, but Jenkins scored on the play to extend the Pirates' lead to 2-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, Matt Fortin (Nashua, N.H.) delivered a one-out, two-RBI single to extend The Hall's lead to 4-0.
