
Zack Weigel Named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall senior Zack Weigel (Oak Park, Ill.) was named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week on Monday.
Weigel was dominant both at the plate and on the base paths last week and helped lead the Pirates to a perfect 4-0 record. The outfielder batted a team-best .562 with a team-high nine hits. He also stole 10 bases in four games, walked four times and scored seven runs. On Wednesday vs. Monmouth, Weigel reached base three times, scored three runs and stole three bases. On Friday vs. Villanova, he went 2-for-4 with a walk a HBP, an RBI and a stolen base. On Saturday, Weigel went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, three runs scored and a career-high four stolen bases. Most recently, Weigel reached base five times on Sunday, going 4-for-5 with a walk and two more stolen bases.
Georgetown's Simon Mathews was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. Members of the Weekly Honor Roll include: Butler's Chris Marras, Creighton's Nicky Lopez, Villanova's Hunter Schryver and both Matt Kent and Dan Rizzie of Xavier.
Weigel and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Wednesday, April 27, when they host Saint Peter's at Owen T. Carroll Field. First pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
