The Hall Announces Spring Slate

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head Coach Clay White announced the 2017 Seton Hall men's golf spring schedule on Tuesday. The Pirates will participate in at least seven events this spring.
Seton Hall will open the spring season on February 13 for the first match of the MAC Match Play event, hosted by Ball State University, at Lake Jovita Country Club in Dade City, Fla. The Pirates last participated in this event in the spring of 2014. The Hall lost to Ball State, but bounced back to defeat Florida Atlantic. Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) was the lone Pirate to win both of his matches.
Two weeks later, the Pirates will begin tournament play with three rounds of golf at the Loyola Invitational, February 25-27, at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz. Last year, The Hall placed seventh, shattering its previous record for a three-round, par-72 tournament with a 6-under-par, 279-287-292-858. Go tied for fourth among 104 golfers with a career-best 9-under-par, 66-69-72-207. Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) was even-par for the tournament.
The Pirates will compete in a new event, also hosted by Loyola University, March 25-26, the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate at Fort Lauderdale Country Club in Florida.
At the end of the month, Seton Hall will return to the Towson Spring Invitational, March 25-26, at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Md. The Pirates didn't play in this event last spring, but did so in the seven years prior. In 2015, Go won the individual title with a 1-over-par, 73-70-143, and helped lead The Hall to a third place team finish. The Pirates tied for first at Towson in 2012.
Seton Hall will return to New Jersey for an old staple, the Princeton Invitational, April 8-9, at Springdale Golf Club. Last year, The Hall finished ninth at 19-over-par. Go again led the Pirates at 1-over-par. Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) finished at 3-over-par. The Pirates are competing in this event for the fifth straight year. The Hall won the Princeton Invitational in 1994.
The following week, the Pirates will head to Penn State University for the Rutherford Intercollegiate, April 15-16, for three rounds. It will be the fourth time in the last five year that Seton Hall has competed in this event. Last spring, The Hall tied for seventh at 33-over-par. Go placed eighth at even-par to lead the team. The Pirates' best effort came in 2014 when they placed second at 20-over-par.
Finally, Seton Hall seek its third conference title with the 2017 BIG EAST Championship, April 30-May 2. For a fourth straight season, each conference team will compete at Callawassie Island Golf Club in Okatie, S.C. The Pirates tied for sixth in the nine-team field in 2016, shooting its best three-round score at Callawassie, a 37-over-par, 305-294-302-901. Georgetown claimed the team title at even-par. Go became only the third individual BIG EAST champion in Seton Hall history with a 6-under-par, 70-65-75-210. Go's historic tournament was fueled by a record-breaking second round in which he fired a Callawassie Island course-record, 7-under-par, 65.
