Poduslenko Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall senior Joe Poduslenko (Glen Mills, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
It's the second straight week to begin the 2017 season that Poduslenko has been honored by the conference. Last week, he was named Player of the week.
Poduslenko continued his torrid start to the 2017 season last weekend at the Tony Gwynn Classic in San Diego, Calif. The third baseman batted a team-high .727, going 8-for-11, with four RBIs and three extra-base hits last week. Against Tennessee on Friday, Poduslenko reached base all five times, going 3-for-3 with two walks, a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Against San Diego State on Saturday, he went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, a stolen base, three RBIs and three runs scored. Poduslenko's slugging percentage for the week was an impressive 1.273. For his efforts, he was named to the Tony Gwynn Classic All-Tournament Team.
St. John's John Valente was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Butler's Jeff Schank was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. Those joining Poduslenko on the Honor Roll include: Creighton's Michael Emodi, Georgetown's Michael DeRenzi, and both Rylan Bannon and Greg Jacknewitz of Xavier.
The Pirates will return to action on Friday, March 3 when they travel to Pensacola, Fla. for three games of the 2017 Cox Diamond Invitational. The Hall will first play Southeastern Louisiana on Friday. First pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET.
