SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Hosting a regular season tournament for the first time in the history of its program, the Seton Hall softball team (11-9-1) notched a pair of wins on day one of the Inaugural Pirate Invitational at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. The Pirates took down Brown (1-11) in five innings before a tight win over Iona (6-9) on Friday afternoon.
Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) keyed the doubleheader sweep in the circle and at the plate, firing a complete game shutout in game one before clubbing a three-run home run in game two. Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) and Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.) also had big days at the dish, combining for seven hits and six RBIs over the two contests.

- The Gaels got single runs back in the second and third innings before Peck cracked a two-run double off the right field wall to push the lead back to 5-2 in the top of the fifth
- Iona pulled back within two with an RBI double in the fifth, but Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) was spotless over the final two frames to seal the contest
