
Pirates Drop Non-Conference Meet vs. Towson

South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's swimming & diving team fell 197-103 to Towson on Family, Friends & Alumni Day inside Richie Regan Rec Center on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Courtney McCardle (Hurley, N.Y.) continued to excel in the sprints, winning the 100 free (53.14) and finishing runner-up in the 200 (1:54.27) and 50 (24.53).
Also scoring points in the 50 free were junior Clara Capone (West Hartford, Conn.), who took third, and sophomore Julie Stankiewicz (Metuchen, N.J.), who took fourth.
Junior Gabby Van Tassell (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished second in the 500 free after clocking in at 5:15.58, just a half second behind the leader.
In the 100 fly, junior Jilian Calocino (Maywood, N.J.), sophomore Amelia Wootton (Bethel, Conn.) and freshman Genevieve Ross (Spotsylvania, Va.) placed two-three-four to score big points for the Pirates, finishing with respective times of 1:00.33, 1:00.94 and 1:01.37.
Prior to Saturday's meet, Seton Hall honored the late Maran Lougheed '02, a Pirate swimming alum, who tragically passed away this summer. Pirate Blue Athletic Fund has announced the university will be launching a scholarship named to honor her memory, and the wonderful person and mother she was.
