PALM CITY, FLA. – Freshman Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) and senior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) each fired a 3-under-par, 69, in the second round of the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate on Monday, and the Seton Hall men's golf team continues to share the team lead with 18 holes remaining.
Fresh off a career-best round yesterday, Tait continued his strong spring start with a 3-under-par, 69, in round two. For a second straight day, he recorded five birdies to fuel his effort. For the tournament, Tait leads the field of 69 individual golfers with an 8-under-par, 67-69-136. He leads West Virginia's Max Sear and UNC-Greensboro's Bryce Hendrix by two strokes entering Tuesday's final round.
On Tuesday, Tait will be looking to claim his first tournament individual title, and a Seton Hall golfer's first win since Lloyd Jefferson Go claimed the Princeton Invitational last spring.
Yip had a brilliant back nine on Monday to also shoot a 3-under-par, 69. The senior finished with seven birdies on the afternoon, including five on the back nine alone. Yip shaved six strokes off his first round score and is now tied for 11th place with an even-par, 75-69-144, through two rounds. His 3-under-par, 69, is a personal low since transferring to Seton Hall prior to his junior year.
