
The Hall Splits On Day Two In Clearwater

Both Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) and Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) went deep for The Hall against NKU as The Hall rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before seeing their late comeback bid fall short. Against the Mountain Hawks, freshmen Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) knocked in all four runs - including Beaver's game-winning go-ahead single to score Barracato in the top of the 10th inning. Overall on Saturday, the freshmen duo combined for nine hits in two games.

- The Norse got on the board with two runs in each of the first two innings, adding multiple runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings to build an 11-1 lead
- The Pirates were undeterred, scoring six runs on six hits in the bottom of the seventh to pull back within four before ultimately falling short
- Head got the scoring started in the seventh with a two-run home run, before an RBI single from Barracato and a three-run blast for Walkden

- Walkden's home run was her sixth of the season, while Head smacked her first
- NKU finished with a 15-9 edge in hits
- Barracato went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs, while Beaver also recorded two hits
- The home run for Walkden was the 47th of the senior's career, 12 shy of the SHU program record

- The Hall got on the board first, with Beaver plating Brianna Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas) to put the Pirates up 1-0
- Lehigh answered quickly, taking a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first
- Neither side produced anything more offensively until the top of the sixth, when The Hall scored twice to level the contest
- With the bases loaded and two away, Barracato delivered a two-run double to the left center field gap that pushed the score to 3-3
- The score remained even at tree until the top of the 10th, when Beaver delivered a two-out, run-scoring single to bring home Barracato with an eventual game-winning knock
- News, Notes and Numbers
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) tossed all 10.0 innings for The Hall and was excellent, not allowing a run after the first inning and scattering eight hits (all singles) with six strikeouts against three walks
- Lehigh held a slight 8-7 edge in hits
- Barracato and Beaver both went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk
- With her five hits on the day, Barracato raised her team-best batting average to .433
- The game-tying two-bagger for Barracato was her team-high seventh of the season
- Camp's complete game was her fifth of the season and she has totaled a 60:16 strikeout-to-walk ratio on the year
The Pirates close their spring break trip and run at the Under Armour Invitational tomorrow when they take on Central Michigan at 9 a.m.
