
Barracato Homers In Setback At Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Freshman Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) hit a home run in her hometown in a 10-2 setback for the Seton Hall softball team (17-23) at Hofstra (25-8) on Tuesday afternoon. The home run for Barracato was one of four on the day for both sides on a windy day at Bill Edwards Stadium.

The Pirates are back in BIG EAST action over the weekend, traveling to St. John's for a three-game set on April 14-15.
How It Happened
- Hofstra got on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the first, then swelled its lead to 6-0 with a five-run frame in the bottom of the second
- A pair of Pirates playing near home got The Hall on the board in the top of the third, with Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) singling before Barracato's two-run homer to left
- The Pride answered quickly with two more solo homers in the bottom of the third to push its lead back to six at 8-2
- Neither side scored again until the bottom of the fifth, when Hofstra scored twice to push its lead to eight and put the run-rule into effect
- The Pirates were out-hit 12-3 in the setback, while neither side recorded an error
- The home run for Barracato was her fifth of the year, second on the squad and top-10 in the BIG EAST
- Pandolfo finished 2-for-2, her third multi-hit game of the season
- Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) drew her BIG EAST-leading 23rd walk in the fourth inning
