The victory keeps Seton Hall alive in its quest for the 2018 BIG EAST title. Georgetown has been eliminated.
Seton Hall scored in seven of its eight innings at the plate, including six-run outbursts in the second and sixth innings. The Pirates barrage included season-highs of 21 hits and eight doubles. All nine members of the starting lineup reached base at least twice with four Pirates, Toke, Alescio, Rob Dadona (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Sebastiano Santorelli (Tuckahoe, N.Y.), collecting three hits apiece.
For a second straight game, the Pirates' opponent scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning. And, for the second consecutive game, The Hall bounced back in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Santorelli hit a double down the left field line. Senior Al Molina (Freehold, N.J.) followed with an RBI single to tie the game. After a single by Alescio, Toke delivered a two-out, two RBI single up the middle to put The Hall in front, 3-1.
The Pirates broke the game open in the bottom of the second with a two-out rally. Seton Hall sent 10 men to the plate in a six-run outburst that put it on top, 9-1. With two outs and the bases loaded, the Pirates had three straight extra base hits, each of which drove in two runs. Alescio and Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) hit back-to-back doubles, followed by a towering two-run home run by Toke over the left-center field wall.
A three-run home run by Georgetown's Sammy Stevens in the top of the fourth inning cut the Pirates' lead to 11-5, but The Hall's offense went on to score 10 more times afterward.GONE GOODBYE!!
