Arteaga Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

NEW YORK – After a hot start to the 2019 campaign, Seton Hall softball slugger Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week. The conference office made the announcement on Monday.
Arteaga hit .571 in season-opening action over the weekend, helping the Pirates to a pair of wins at the 2019 Marucci Desert Classic in Las Vegas. The junior hit safely in four of five games and smacked three doubles and a home run. She also knocked in five runs and scored three times.
In the season opener against Southern Utah, Arteaga was instrumental in a 2-1 win. She doubled in the opening frame and later smacked a game-tying solo home run, finishing her day 2-for-3. She also had two hits and two RBIs at UNLV and went 2-for-2 with two runs scored against Utah Valley. Arteaga capped the weekend with a 2-for-3, two-RBI day in a win against North Dakota.
The Pirates are back in action this weekend with four games in three days at the Mean Green Classic hosted by North Texas.
