
Pirates Take On River Landing Classic, Monday

WALLACE, N.C. – The Seton Hall women's golf team will return to the course this week with three rounds of golf at the 2019 River Landing Classic, March 4-5.

The Course:
The course was designed by nationally acclaimed architect Clyde Johnston of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Through Johnston's incredible vision of the remarkable land given to him at River Landing, he carved out a masterpiece in the 18-hole River Course. His design takes full advantage of the unique natural beauty of our eastern coastal plain region, including scenic lakes, lush woodlands, and the peaceful Cape Fear River.
Designed to embrace the stunning beauty of the natural environment, the River Course runs along the Northeast Cape Fear River. This 18-hole championship course incorporates five tee boxes, Champion Bermuda on the greens and Tifway 419 Bermuda for the tees and fairways.
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host UNC-Wilmington, the field is comprised of 13 other teams including: Boston College, Campbell, Charlotte, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Penn State, Rutgers, UNC-Greensboro and Winthrop. BIG EAST competitor Georgetown is also a part of the competitive field.

Last Time Out:
Junior Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) fired a 1-under-par, 70, to lift the Pirates to a second place finish at the 2019 Rio Verde Invitational on Sunday. Sager had five birdies in today's final round, and was 5-under-par though her final 12 holes. It's her seventh career sub-par round and her second this year. For the tournament, Sager tied for 13th place among 101 individual golfers with a 7-over-par, 79-70-149.
As a team, Seton Hall tied fellow BIG EAST competitor Xavier for the top second round score, an 8-over-par, 292, which represents a 10-shot improvement from its first round score. The performance enabled the Pirates to jump three spots in the final standings to finish second. For the tournament, the Pirates fired a 26-over-par, 302-292-594. The Hall finished behind only the Musketeers, who edged it by just three strokes.
Seton Hall had two Pirates recorded top-10 finishes with junior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) and Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) tying for eighth place overall, one stroke better than Sager. Win shot a 4-over-par, 75, on Sunday to finish the two-round event with a 6-over-par, 73-75-148. It's Win's 12th career top-10 finish, which ties for third-most in Seton Hall history.
Last Time at River Landing:
Lizzie Win and Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) each shot an even-par, 72, in the final round of the 2018 River Landing Classic to propel the Pirates to a 10th place finish. For the tournament, Kness tied for 33rd place with an 8-over-par, 78-74-72-224. One of the golfers she tied was Win, who shot an 8-over-par with a 75-77-72-224.
Collectively, the Pirates had by far their best team performance in round three. After shaving off 13 strokes from round one to round two, The Hall shaved off nine more strokes in round three to finish with a 5-over-par, 293. Only four teams had a better third round. The Pirates finished 10th, with a 46-over-par, 315-302-293-910. Campbell won the team title, running away from the field at 7-under-par.
Tee Times:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Monday and one final round on Tuesday. There will be a shotgun start on both days at 9:00 a.m. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from East Tennessee State and Middle Tennessee State in round one.
