SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – In an effort to remain highly competitive on the ever-changing and improving collegiate landscapes, Seton Hall Athletics has officially broken ground on major renovations to Owen T. Carroll Field, affecting its baseball and soccer programs.
"We are very excited to begin the Owen T. Carroll Field project as it will help transform the student-athlete and fan experiences for our baseball, men's soccer and women's soccer programs, said Patrick Lyons, Vice President and Director of Athletics & Recreational Services. "As I have always said, our student-athletes are our priority, and giving them a first-class facility where they can compete for a BIG EAST Championship is paramount. We're looking forward to the final product and sharing it with the Seton Hall family."
The fan areas on both the baseball and soccer sides will be completely re-vamped with large areas of the old bleacher seating being replaced with new chair-back seating. Permanent restrooms will also be constructed at both sides of the venue. Both sections will also be highly handicap accessible and ADA compliant.
New to both locations will be an enclosed press box to allow for better protected and more efficient game operations, stadium technology and TV/radio broadcasts.
In addition to improvements that will greatly enhance the game day experience for the fans and press, the student-athletes will also directly benefit from the renovations. The entire Field Turf playing surface will be replaced. Additionally, the baseball dugouts will be enhanced and depressed into the ground.
Aesthetically, the facility will have a much greater "stadium" feel. A stone façade will enclose all seating areas, and Seton Hall's marks and branding will be highly visible.
The major renovations are expected to be completed in time for the 2019 soccer seasons this fall.
