Thompson Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall junior Noah Thompson (Frisco, Texas) was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Wee on Monday.
For the second time in three starts, Thompson turned in his best career performance. The right-hander tossed a career-high 8.1 scoreless innings and scattered just two hits in Charlottsville against UVA. He struck out six batters and walked only one. Only one Virginia batter reached scoring position all day and he was stranded at second base in the fourth inning.
This is the second time in three weeks this season that he's been honored by the BIG EAST. Thompson was named to the Weekly Honor Roll two weeks ago.
Butler's Harrison Freed was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Members of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll include: Butler's Ryan Pepiot, Georgetown's Jerry Burke, Villanova's Tim Lilly and both Lane Flamm and Conor Grammes of Xavier.
Seton Hall will return to action this weekend when it begins its Spring Break trip in Florida. The Pirates will open a three-game series at Florida International on Friday, March 8 in Miami. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
