
Shedler-McAvoy Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall junior Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday.
Shedler-McAvoy had a fantastic week for Seton Hall, leading the Pirates with a .529 batting average and reaching base at least three times in all four contests.
The center fielder went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a walk and a double in a midweek loss at Penn on Wednesday. In game one of a doubleheader against Butler on Saturday, Shedler-McAvoy went 4-for-6 with three doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. He became the first Pirate to hit three doubles in a single game in more than five years. In game two of the twinbill, he belted out two more hits with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base. In the finale on Sunday, Shedler-McAvoy reached base three more times, going 1-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base.
Georgetown's Nick Morreale was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. Members of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll include: Butler's Harrison Freed, Creighton's Denson Hull, Georgetown's Jacob Grzebinski, Villanova's John Heilenbach and Xavier's Jake Shepski.
Seton Hall will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to local rival Saint Peter's in Jersey City, N.J. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
