
Seton Hall Set for First Game At Newly Renovated Ballpark

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall baseball team returns to South Orange to play its first game on campus since 2018 when the Pirates take on Fairleigh Dickinson at 4 p.m. at the newly named Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium at Owen T. Carroll Field on Wednesday, March 11.
The game will be streamed on the Pirate Sports Network and WSOU will stream its broadcast on WSOU.net.
On Tuesday, March 10, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new facility that women's soccer, men's soccer and baseball call home. University President Joseph E. Nyre, Director of Athletics Bryan Felt and head baseball coach Rob Sheppard spoke at the gathering that officially christened the fields. Tomorrow's first pitch will be thrown out and caught by members of the Sheppard family; the first baseball family of New Jersey that stem from the stadium's namesake, Mike Sheppard, Sr.

- The last time Seton Hall played on campus was on May 12, 2018 vs. St. John's.
- The Pirates are looking to get back in the win column against Fairleigh Dickinson, who is coming off of a 7-4 win over Lehigh in Teaneck on Tuesday.
- Seton Hall took two out of three from the Knights last season and it's 51-11 all-time.
- After a strong week in the latter half of the Pirates' spring break trip, senior Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Alenndale, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
- Shedler-McAvoy hit .412 (7-for-15) with two triples, five runs scored and three stolen bases in four games for the Pirates. He also registered 16 putouts and one outfield assists with no errors in four starts in centerfield.
- Hitting from the leadoff spot in two of the Pirates' four games, Shedler-McAvoy reached base eight times in 18 plate appearances and registered two multi-hit games, including a three-hit performance at Fresno State. His three stolen bases came in three attempts and he's now 48-for-57 on the base paths in his career.
