The Hall pushes across 13 runs in its first home game since 2018

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton hall baseball team opened up its newly renovated ballpark with a bang on Wednesday as the Pirates beat Fairleigh Dickinson, 13-3, at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium.

Junior Tyler Burnham (East Brunswick, N.J.) picked up his first win of the season for the Pirates (6-8) as he struck out four batters and allowed only one hit in three innings of work. Every Seton Hall player in uniform saw the field.

What Happened:

The Pirates racked up 11 runs over the first three innings. Junior Casey Dana (Montgomery, N.Y.) got things started with an RBI double to left field that score Christian Del Castillo (Miami, Fla.) and Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale N.J.). After batting around, Shedler-McAvoy finished out the scoring with an RBI single that made it 6-0 Seton Hall.

In the second, Burnham struck out the side, all swinging, that set the stage for a four-run second inning for the Pirates. The Hall extended its lead to 12-0 in the fifth when junior Thomas Holdorf (Freehold, N.J.) registered his second RBI of the day on a double to left center that scored junior Jerry Huntzinger (Staten Island, N.Y.)

Notes:

13 runs scored at home are the most for the Pirates since plating 14 runs against Princeton on March 29, 2017.
Holdorf and senior Connor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) both turned in multi-hit games.
In 10 career starts, Burnham is 7-2.
Dana is on an eight-game hitting streak and has reached base in 12 straight games.
After posting two multi-RBI games in his first two season, Holdorf already has three multi-RBI performances this season.
