
Athletics Hall of Famer Larry Falcon Passes Away

South Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Larry Falcon, who pitched for the baseball team from 1961-64, passed away on July 1 at the age of 77.
Falcon was one of the baseball program's all-time greats and is still the all-time leader in earned run average, posting a microscopic 1.26 ERA during his illustrious career. In his senior year of 1964, he incredibly threw 37 consecutive scoreless innings and helped Seton Hall reach its first-ever College World Series.Â
Falcon, who signed with the Milwaukee Braves after graduating from Seton Hall and played one season of professional baseball, was inducted into the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984.
He went on to build a career in insurance, working as an executive at First Investors Life Insurance Company from 1972 until his retirement in 2017.
Falcon was predeceased by his wife, Dolores, and is survived by his children, Michael Falcon and his wife, Gerry of Nanuet, N.Y., Lori Ellis and her husband, John of Colts Neck, and Melissa Wallace and her husband, Thomas of Marlboro; eight grandchildren, Michael Falcon, Matthew Falcon, Taylor Falcon, Christopher Ellis, James Ellis, Joseph Ellis, Ryan Wallace, and Brady Wallace; a brother, Don Falcon and his wife, Carole of Whippany; and his late sister, Carol Nice, and her husband, Frank Nice of Verona.
