Acevedo Leading Pirates After Two Rounds at Pinnacle Bank

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) shot 4-over-par through two rounds to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a 13^th place standing at the Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate on Monday.

Acevedo shot a 4-over-par, 76, in the opening round, but shaved off four strokes in the afternoon to finish with an even-par, 72. Through two rounds, Acevedo is in 23^rd place overall with a 4-over-par, 76-72-148, and trails a pair of individual leaders by eight strokes entering Tuesday's final round.

Acevedo was spectacular down the stretch in the second round. Sitting at 3-over-par through 13 holes, he birdied three of the last five to finish even.

Collectively, the Pirates shaved seven strokes off their morning round to finish with an 11-over-par, 299, in round two. The Hall is currently tied with Presbyterian College for 13^th place with a 29-over-par, 306-299-605. Charleston Southern and August are tied for the team lead at 1-over-par through 36 holes.

Senior Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) was consistent throughout the day, firing a pair of 3-over-par, 75's. Tait is currently tied for 38^th place with a 6-over-par, 75-75-150. He had a total of six birdies on the day.

Only one stroke behind Tait is teammate Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.). The junior shaved one stroke off his morning round to also finish with a 3-over-par, 75. Through 36 holes, Ramachandran is tied for 42^nd place with a 7-over-par, 76-75-151.

Playing in his first career collegiate tournament, freshman Brody Hanley (Lantana, Texas) shaved two strokes off his first-round score to finish with a 5-over-par, 77, in round two. Hanley's opening round featured an eagle on only his third collegiate hole, but a 3-over-par, 7, on the par-4, No. 14 hole hurt his round overall. Currently, he is 12-over-par with a 79-77-156.

Rounding out the Pirate scoring was Alex McAuley (Douglas, Isle of Man). The graduate shaved five strokes off his first-round score to settle with a 7-over-par, 79, in the afternoon. For the tournament, he is 19-over-par with an 84-79-163.

THE COURSE:
The Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Hall opened in 1991 to rave reviews and was almost instantly named to Golf Digest's list as one of America's Top 10 New Courses. In 2008-09, the magazine awarded the course 4-stars as one of "Best Places to Play." The Arthur Hills course plays 6,918 yards from the back tees with a course rating of 73.8 and a slope of 139. At 6,257 yards (70.6/128), the White Tees will prove to be a formidable foe for most golfers, while ladies will find the course enjoyable from the Red Tees (5,006/70.3/119).

Hills' signature style is fully on display here with undulated fairways with lots of mounding wind through heavily wooded forests of moss-draped oaks and towering pines, that frame the fairways of many holes. Lush fairways and crystalline lakes give way to large greens, with bunkers butted up against the sides, providing golfers with several challenges. Fortunately, most of the hazards are lateral and sit off to the sides of the fairways and only a handful of holes require an aerial approach on to the green.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Francis Marion, the field features 14 other teams including: Augusta, Charleston Southern, Dayton, Furman, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Kennesaw State, Presbyterian, Radford, Temple, USC Aiken, UT Chattanooga, Winthrop, Wofford.

FORMAT / TEE TIMES:
The field will play two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday. Tee times TBD.
