Columbia, S.C. – The Seton Hall softball team had two setbacks against nationally ranked opponents, #16 Duke and #18 South Carolina on Saturday in the Gamecock Invitational.

How it Happened

The Blue Devils got on the board early with two runs in the home-half of the first.
Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) kept up her hot start to the spring with a single in the second for her third hit in as many games.
The 16^th ranked Blue Devils would add runs in each of the final four innings to earn the victory.

Notes and Numbers

Pandolfo is now hitting at a .364 clip with eight total bases after four games of play.
Despite the eight runs, The Hall only allowed six hits to the Blue Devils.

#18 South Carolina 3 – Seton Hall 1

How it Happened

The host Gamecocks got out to an early lead with two runs in the second and another run in the fourth to go up 3-0 after 4.
The Pirates were able to get a run in the sixth on a Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) single to cut the lead to two but that would be it.

Notes and Numbers

Barracato's RBI in the sixth was the 66^th in her career and first of the season.
Indicative of the close final score, the Gamecocks narrowly outhit the Pirates 7-5.
Freshman Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) picked up two hits on the afternoon. Carr also pitched six innings giving up three runs and striking out two.

What's Next
The Pirates will round out things at the Gamecock Invitational whe they take on #16 Duke get back after it tomorrow with two more games on the docket in the Gamecock Invitational. First the Pirates will take on number #16 Duke in the morning before squaring off with #18 South Carolina in the afternoon.
