
Pirates Open BIG EAST Play, Host Butler

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team will open up BIG EAST play this weekend as they host Butler for three games at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. The Pirates are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Both first pitches are scheduled for noon.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
The department will allow two parents or guardians of each Seton Hall student-athlete to attend an outdoor competition that is hosted on campus, including games at Owen T. Carroll Field for men's and women's soccer, Mike Sheppard Sr. Stadium for baseball and Mike Sheppard Sr. Field for softball.
Unfortunately, due to capacity limits, this policy does not apply towards parents or guardians of members of the opposing team or members of the general public.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pirates are coming off a perfect 3-0 weekend with a win over Fordham on Saturday and two victories against Lehigh on Sunday. In total, the Pirate outscored their opponents 32-15. Freshman Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) picked up two wins in the circle and two home runs in the box enroute to winning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned herself a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll slashing .667/.727/1.127 over the weekend.

Butler (7-7)
- The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend in Chattanooga, Tenn., that saw them go 3-1 with wins over Chattanooga and Green Bay.
- Butler is led offensively by Lauren Fey who is currently hitting .487 this season with 12 walks for a .608 OBP. Knocking in runs for the Bulldogs is Karli Ricketts who sits at 16 RBIs to go along with three long balls and four doubles. Ricketts has also been solid for the Bulldogs in the circle. The junior was awarded BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after tossing two complete game shutouts over the weekend.
- The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 10-8. The Pirates were able to pick up 2-of-3 at home in 2019.
- Against Fordham, Carr was the first pitcher since Lauren Fischer in 2017 to hit a home run and earn the win in the circle, a feat she would duplicate on Sunday against Lehigh.
- Ally Taylor's (Mission Viejo, Calif.) home run on Sunday was the first of her career.
- In the first game against Lehigh, Sydney Babik (Gilbert, Ariz.) came on in relief to pick up her first career win.
- With her double on Sunday, Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) is now one, two-bagger away from tying Alexis Walkden for second place in school history at 43.
