South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team dropped two games against Butler on Saturday. The Bulldogs came out on top of two tightly contested games by scores of 5-4 and 4-2.

Game One: Butler 5 – Seton Hall 4
How it Happened

The Pirates jumped on the scoreboard first with two runs in the second. Jaden Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) brought the first run of the game home before Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) drew a walk with the bases loaded to go up, 2-0.
Butler would respond with a run in the fourth and a two-run home run in the fifth to go up, 3-2.
In the fifth, Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) drove in a run on a fielder's choice to knot things up at 5.
The Bulldogs would get a run in each of the next two innings to build a 5-3 lead heading into the home-half of the seventh.
The Pirates showed fight in the inning with Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) singling home a run to cut the deficit to one, but that would be it for the Pirates.

Notes and Numbers

Kiana Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) picked up three hits for The Hall, a career high.
Five different Pirates picked up hits in the setback with Tate and Arteaga having multi-hit bids.

Game Two: Butler 4 – Seton Hall 2
How it Happened

Butler was the first on the board in game two, with a run in the first.
The Pirates would tied things up in the second with a Smith double to score Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas).
The Bulldogs would match the Pirates' effort with an RBI double to retake the lead, 2-1 in the third.
Pandolfo again answered the call with an RBI double to tie things up at 2.
After six inning sof two-run ball from Smith, the Bulldogs added two runs in the seventh to take game two.

Notes and Numbers

The RBI for Pandolfo was her team-leading ninth of the season. Carr picked up the win and a home run for the second day in a row.
Smith picked up nine strikeouts for The Hall, a career high.

The Pirates will play the final game of their BIG EAST opening series against Butler on Sunday. First pitch is set for noon.
