
Pirates Take Down #13 Providence, Stay Perfect at Home

South Orange, N.J. Â -Â The Seton Hall men's soccer team continued it's perfect run at home with a 2-1 victory over #13 Providence on Saturday. The Pirates are now 5-0 at Owen T. Carroll Field this season.
The Pirates earned their second straight BIG EAST victory and were able to rise in the conference standings, tied now with Georgetown at the top of the East Division with 10 points apiece.
For the first time all season, the Pirates were the first team to concede a goal when Providence's Luis Garcia scored in the 28th minute. The lead would not last long, however, as Luca Dahn (Kahl, Germany) provided the equalizer off of a James Boote (Southampton, England) corner. For the second consecutive game, Boote found the head of a Pirate from a corner, this time Dahn was able to find the back of the net.
Turning Point
The Pirates weren't done for the half yet. In the 42nd minute, JP Marin (Briarwood, N.Y.) was able to beat the Providence keeper and put the Pirates ahead. Â Johannes Pex (Stephansposching, Germany) picked up the helper on the play, his first assist on the season.

- Each team registered three shots on net. Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) picked up two saves and the victory, his fourth of the season.
- The assist for Boote was his third of the season and second in two games.
- For the second consecutive game, the Pirates' backline of Dahn, Pex, Denis Kelmendi (Falkenberg, Sweden) and Maurice Williams (West Orange, N.J.) all played the full 90 minutes in the victory.
- Seton Hall moves to 5-1-2 on the season, 3-1-1 in the BIG EAST and 5-0-0 at home.
- The Hall is outscoring opponents 9-2 in the first half and 7-1 at home.
- The Pirates' last top-25 win was against #25 Creighton in 2017, a 2-0 victory.
- This is the Pirates' first win against the #13-ranked team in program history. They were previously 0-3-1 against that spot.
- The 5-0 record at home is the best start to a home schedule for the Pirates since 1999 when they started 7-0 at home.
