
Pirates Ready for Midweek Rematch at Fordham

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team will travel up to the Bronx, N.Y. for a midweek rematch with Fordham. The Pirates won their previous matchup against the Rams, 12-6, earlier this year at home. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pirates are coming off a 1-2 weekend against Butler that served as their BIG EAST opener. Sophomore Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) earned the win for the Pirates on Sunday after 5 scoreless innings of relief. Overall on the weekend, Smith threw 13.2 innings with 16 strikeouts and went 3-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs to net her a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Veterans Kiana Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.), Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) all picked up big hits over the weekend as well.

The Pirates will return home to host St. John's for a BIG EAST weekend series at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. First pitch for the doubleheader on Saturday is scheduled for noon.

Fordham (5-3)
- The Rams have gone on to win four of their last six games since playing the Pirates, including splitting a double header with St. John's, a team The Hall will host next weekend.
- Offensively the Rams have five batters hitting above a .300 clip for a team batting average of .282.
- Against Fordham, Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) was the first pitcher since Lauren Fischer in 2017 to hit a home run and earn the win in the circle, a feat she would duplicate the next day against Lehigh.
- After driving in three runs in the win on Sunday over Butler including the one on the walk-off single, Arteaga now has 116 career RBIs which ties her with Katie Pierce for fifth-most in program history.
- Kiana Tate picked up three hits in the first setback on Saturday, a career high.
