
Pirates Hit the Road for Final Two Regular Season Series

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team will hit the road for its final two BIG EAST series of the regular season. First the Pirates will travel to Storrs, Conn., for a three-game set with the Huskies on Wednesday and Thursday. Then the Pirates will travel up to Rhode Island for their final regular season series with Providence over the weekend.

The Pirates took a thrilling 10-inning matchup with Villanova on Sunday after being down to their last out in three different innings. Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) each tallied with four hits for The Hall.
Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) and Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) both went deep in the ballgame with BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) doubling three times, driving in three runs in the process before scoring the winning run on a wild pitch in the tenth.

SCOUTING
Connecticut (18-14, 10-5)
- The Huskies took two of three from St. John's over the weekend, winning the first two games of the series before dropping the finale.
- UConn has some pop in their lineup with three different Huskies tied for the team lead at seven long balls on the season.
- In the circle have used three pitchers, Kinney (103.1 IP), O'Neil (95.2) and Olson (15.2) to the tune of a 3.10 team ERA.
- The Huskies lead the all-time series 38-16 with the last match between the two teams coming in 2013, a Pirate victory at home.
- The Friars last played on April 28, a loss in a series sweep by Connecticut.
- Offensively, the Friars have four players with double-digit hits on the season with Tori Grifone leading the team with a .275 average through 14 games.
- In the circle, Daniela Alvarez and Sarah Gunderson each have 10 appearances to lead Providence.
- The Pirates lead the all-time series 35-31, with The Hall taking four of the last five against the Friars.
- Carr was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after going 3-for-5 at the plate with three doubles and three runs batted in on Sunday. Carr also came around to score the winning run on a wild pitch in the tenth inning to finally put the Pirates over the Wildcats in a back-and-forth game. It is Carr's second time winning the award after she did so on March 8.
- Barracato had herself a historic weekend as she hit .545 at the plate over the three-game series with Villanova to earn a spot on the conference's Weekly Honor Roll. With her second double of the weekend, Barracato broke the all-time program record for two-baggers with her 49th double in her career. Barracato is the fifth different Pirate to be awarded a spot of the conference's Weekly Honor Roll this season.

- The Pirates amassed a season-high 18 hits on Sunday with eight different Pirates earning knocks. The Pirates also had season-highs in doubles (7) and home runs (2).
- Seton Hall ranks second in the conference with 53 doubles in just 26 games. Their 2.04 doubles per game is good for second in the country behind only Dartmouth who has played three games this season.
