Nevada 3 – Seton Hall 1
How it Happened
- After three scoreless frames that saw Smith tie up five Pack batters, Nevada finally broke onto the scoreboard in the fourth. The Pack was able to send seven batters to the dish and plate three runs in the inning on just one hit.
- Trailing by three heading into the seventh, the Pirates' offense fought back down to their final out. Hannah Alexander (Wrightstown, N.J.) doubled to right-center with two down in the inning to spark a rally. After Marisa Pla (San Clemente, Calif.) pinch ran, Jenna Blevins (Flat Rock, Mich.) moved her to third with a single before Pla was able to cross the plate on a wild pitch. That would be all for the Pirates, however, as they would fall by a final score of 3-1.
- The Pirates outhit the Pack 4-3.
- The double for Alexander is her second of the season and third extra-base hit in two games this weekend.
- Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) also got into the hit column for the Pirates at the top of the lineup.
- The nine punchouts for Smith were one short of a season high as she racked up 10 strikeouts against UMass Lowell on Feb. 11.
How it Happened
- The Bengals were the first team on the scoreboard following a two-run single to put them up, 2-0 after one.
- Idaho State would put up a five spot in the fourth to open things up highlighted by a three-run home run in the inning.
- The Bengals would end things in the fifth with an RBI single for a final score of 8-0 in five innings.
- Wingo picked up another hit for the Pirates to grow her hitting streak to eight games.
- Both Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) and Taylor Soanes (Missouri City, Texas) picked up hits for the Pirates. Soanes is now 3-for-6 on the season at the plate.
- Sydney Babik (Gilbert, Ariz.) gave up just two earned runs in four innings for the Pirates.
