Pirates Can't Get By Georgetown On Saturday

Bowie, Md. — The Seton Hall baseball team was plagued by seven runners left on base and Georgetown used a five-run third inning to create separation early as the Hoyas defeated the Pirates, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Jonathan Luders (Lynnfield, Mass.) went 1-for-4 to raise his team-high batting average to .358. Junior Aaron Groller (Harleysville, Pa.) was nearly perfect in two innings of relief where he allowed only one base runner to reach.
How It Happened
After going down in order in the top of the first inning, Georgetown picked up their first two runs on an RBI single and an RBI groundout. Sophomore Michael Ciminiello (Saint James, N.Y.) retired the side in order in the second but ran into trouble in the third. With two outs and the bases loaded, the Hoyas took advantage of a Seton Hall error that allowed a run to score and kept the inning alive. Despite allowing five runs, Ciminiello was only docked for two runs because of the error.
The Pirates offense was kept off balance all day but they were able to put two runners on in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings. In the top of the ninth, redshirt sophomore Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.) drew a two-out walk, one of his two times reaching base on the day. The next batter was sophomore Zack Sylvester (Montville, N.J.) and he sent a single to center field that kept The Hall alive. It wouldn't be enough though as Georgetown was able to secure a strikeout to end the game.
