The Hall is just two strokes behind the Top-5 after 18 holes.
NEW HAVEN, CONN. – Graduate student Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) fired a 3-under-par, 67, and the Seton Hall men's golf team is in seventh place after a strong first round of the 2022 NCAA Yale Regional on Monday.
Acevedo had five birdies on the day and was without blemish through his first 13 holes. He is currently tied for ninth place among 75 individual golfers with a 3-under-par, 67. Illinois' Piercen Hunt currently leads the individual field at 6-under-par.
It's Acevedo's 10th sub-par round of the year.
As a team, Seton Hall shot a 5-under-par, 275, the second-lowest par-70 single-round score in program history. The top five teams after three rounds will advance to the National Championship. Top-seeded UNC and fourth-seeded Illinois are currently tied for fifth, only two strokes ahead of the Pirates after 18 holes.
Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) came through in a big way in round one with a 2-under-par, 68. The senior had only one blemish, a bogey on the par-4, No. 3 hole. Otherwise, Ramachandran had three birdies, including a 40-foot putt on hole No. 4, and 14 pars. He's currently tied for 15th place overall. It's Ramachandran's 17th career sub-par round.
BIG EAST Individual Champion Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) was a third Pirate to complete his first round under par. The graduate student had two birdies and 15 pars on his way to a 1-under-par, 69, on Monday. He's currently tied for 28th overall.
Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia) continued his strong freshman campaign with a 1-over-par, 71, on Monday. O'Brien had three birdies and 12 pars, and is currently tied for 44th place.
Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) rounded out the Pirates' lineup. Although his score wasn't counted, it was far from poor. The junior collected 13 pars and a birdie on hole No. 16 on his way to a 3-over-par, 73.

Course Vitals: Par-70, 6,766 yards
Dates: May 16-18, 2022
THE COURSE
In 1923, a 700-acre tract of swamp and woodland was given to Yale by Mrs. Ray Tompkins in memory of her husband. Under the supervision of Charles Blair Macdonald, the renowned golf course architect, champion golfer, and co-founder of the USGA, plans were made for an 18-hole golf course. With a budget of $400,000, Macdonald, in collaboration with Seth Raynor, designed a masterpiece which opened for play in 1926.
Today, the Yale Golf Course is recognized as one of the finest examples from the Macdonald & Raynor portfolios. Large greens with deep bunkers and wide, rolling fairways are the core of Yale's strategic and penal character. The Yale Golf Course is consistently recognized as the finest collegiate course in the nation. The course has been the site of every significant state championship, two USGA Junior National events, and NCAA Regionals in 1991, 1995, 2004, 2010, 2015 and again in 2022. The course has also been the home of the Nike Connecticut Open.
The 6,766-yard, par-70 course features large and deeply bunkered greens and narrow fairways that challenge golfers at all levels of play. Two of the holes—the 432-yard par-4 fourth and the 238-yard par 3 ninth—have been ranked among the world's 100 most difficult holes.
