Conover Selected By Detroit In 2022 MLB Draft

Pittstown native finished his sophomore season strong and was a Cape Cod League All-Star
South Orange, N.J. - Junior right-handed pitcher Drew Conover (Pittstown, N.J.) has been selected in the 20th round by the Detroit Tigers in the 2022 MLB Draft, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
The 597th overall pick, Conover becomes the 112th Seton Hall baseball player selected in the MLB Draft. The Pirates have had a pitcher get his name called in the draft in consecutive seasons following the selection of David Festa by the Minnesota Twins in the 13th round last year. Festa is already up with the Twins' high-A affiliate in Cedar Rapids.
Conover appeared in 18 games for the Pirates as a sophomore where he struck out 43 batters, which ranked fifth on the team. He finished out the season with a 0.60 ERA in his final 15.1 innings, striking out 16 with just five walks and he fanned a career-high seven batters at Oklahoma State on March 18. Conover's draft stock was boosted by a strong summer pitching for the Harwich Mariners in the prestigious Cape Cod League where he was named a CCL All-Star.
