CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will wrap up the fall season with three rounds of golf at the 2023 Daniel Island Invitational at the Daniel Island Club Ralston Creek Course, October 29-31.

THE COURSE:
As one of the top private golf clubs in Charleston, SC, the Daniel Island Club features the country's only private pairing of golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Rees Jones playing out of the same clubhouse. Both nationally ranked courses are perfectly integrated into the breathtaking Lowcountry landscape and the country club neighborhood of Daniel Island Park.

Against a stunning backdrop of natural saltwater marsh and tidal creek vistas, acclaimed golf course architect Rees Jones has designed a true low country classic. Ralston Creek, Daniel Island's second 18-hole masterpiece, is a par 72 course playing 7,446 yards from the championship tees.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Charleston Southern, the field includes nine other teams including:Â Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Francis Marion, Louisiana-Monroe, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina-Wilmington, Southern Mississippi and VCU.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

Individual:Â Eli Shah, Freshman

LAST TIME OUT:
Graduate student Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) tied for third overall and guided the Pirates to a second-place team finish at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational on Oct. 10. Xie put together his third-consecutive sub-par round, using three birdies and 14 pars to fuel a 2-under-par, 70. For the tournament, he shot an astounding 11-under-par, 67-68-70-205.Â

Collectively, The Hall also had a historically good tournament. The Pirates had the top round three in the field on Tuesday, shooting a remarkable 11-under-par, 277, which is tied for the second-lowest single team round in Seton Hall history. The effort allowed The Hall to move up to second place and finish just three strokes shy of the champion and host Wichita State.

For the tournament, the Pirates finished with a 20-under-par, 285-282-277-844. The 844 is the third-lowest par-72 three-round team score in history, while their 20-under-par is the third-most strokes under par for any tournament.

LAST TIME AT DANIEL ISLAND:
Senior Wenliang Xie and junior Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) tied for 51st place overall to lead the Pirates to a 14th place tie during last year's Daniel Island Invitational.

Xie had three birdies and 12 pars in route to his second even-par, 72, of the tournament. For the three-day event, Xie shot a 15-over-par, 72-87-72-231. Sun finished the tournament with an 8-over-par, 80, on Tuesday and completed the event with a 15-over-par, 74-77-80-231.

As a team, The Hall shot a 19-over-par, 307, in round three. It finished the tournament tied with HCU for 14th place with a 56-over-par, 303-310-307-920. Among the teams that Seton Hall bested was the College of Charleston which has a higher Golfstat ranking. Mississippi State won the team title at 15-over-par.

The field will play 18 holes each day over three days. Tee times will begin at 8:06 a.m. for rounds one and two and there will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. for round three.Â
