Boca Raton, Fla. – Four Pirates posted multi-hit efforts and six drove in runs as the Pirates took down Maine in game one of day two of the Joan Joyce Classic. The Pirates would split their two games on the day, suffering a setback in the nightcap to FAU.

How it Happened

Seton Hall jumped out of the gates red hot with a four-run first inning. After each of the first three batters reached base, Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.) hit a sacrifice fly to score the game's first run. Katey Brennan (Yardley, Pa.) followed with an RBI single to right field to bring home Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.). After Carr scored on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly from Erin Howard (Skillman, N.J.) made it a 4-0 game.
Carr would plate the Pirates' fifth run in the second inning with an RBI single to center.
Seton Hall made it a 7-0 game thanks to two more runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles from Gilbert and Caroline Hobbes (Bay Shore, N.Y.).
Maine plated three runs in the sixth, but the Pirates added insurance runs in the seventh off an RBI double from Hill and an RBI single from Gilbert.

Notes & Numbers

Allen went a perfect 4-for-4 out of the leadoff spot and reached base safely in all five plate appearances.
The top four of the Pirates' batting order went a combined 10-for-14 with five RBI.
Kreuscher allowed just one hit and no runs while striking out two over her five innings of work.
Brennan's RBI was the first of her career.
Karissa Dupuis (Middletown, R.I.) made her first career appearance in the circle.

How it Happened

FAU got on the board with four runs in the second inning to take the early lead.
Brennan continued her strong start to her career with a one out single in the third inning but was ultimately stranded on base.
Hill flexed her defensive muscles in the fourth inning, fielding a ball off the wall in right field and throwing out Zoey Jones at second base trying to leg out a double.
FAU would solidify the victory thanks to a six-run fifth inning.

Brennan has hits in three of her first four collegiate games.
Hill has collected hits in each of her last three games.
