Xie Named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week

It's his second BIG EAST honor in the last three weeks.
NEW YORK – Seton Hall graduate student Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) was named BIG EAST Men's Co-Golfer of the Week on Thursday for the second time this season.

Xie shot a 4-under-par, 67, in Sunday's final round to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Princeton Invitational. Xie continued his remarkable graduate season with another dazzling round on Sunday. He had seven birdies on the day, including birdies in five of his last seven holes to finish with a 4-under-par, 67. For the tournament, Xie tied for third among 75 individual golfers with a 5-under-par, 71-70-67-208.

Remarkably, this was Xie's fourth consecutive sub-par tournament and the sixth in his last seven tournaments dating back to the fall season. He now has 13 sub-par tournaments for his career, which ties him with Pirates legend Lloyd Jefferson Go for most in Seton Hall history.

Xie and the rest of the Pirates will return to the links on April 15-16 for three rounds of golf at the Shark Invitational at Brookville Country Club in Old Brookville, N.Y.
