Game 1: Army 2, Seton Hall 1
How it Happened
- Pitching ruled over the first four innings, with neither team able to get more than one runner aboard through the first half of the contest.
- Seton Hall cracked the scoreboard first in the fifth, as Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) blooped a single just behind shortstop to allow Hill to score from second.
- Army would answer right back with two runs of its own in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead.
- After a brief rain delay, the Pirates loaded the bases in the sixth looking to tie or take the lead. However, the Black Knights would force Caroline Hobbes (Bay Shore, N.Y.) to groundout to end the threat.
- With Carr's fifth inning single, she has hit safely in four of her last five games.
- Hill and Erin Howard (Skillman, N.J.) each collected two hits on the game.
- Kyra Kreuscher (Great River, N.Y.) got the start for the Pirates, working six innings and not allowing an earned run.
How it Happened
- Hill got the Pirate bats going right away in game two with an opposite field home run to lead off the game.
- The lead grew to 3-0 in the third thanks to run scoring base hits from Hill and Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.).
- Army began to chip away in the fourth, as a solo home run got them on the board and made it a 3-1 game. The Black Knights would then tie it in the fifth thanks to a pair of RBI singles.
- In the top of the sixth, the Pirates punched right back. With Miranda Arruda (Pawcatuck, Conn.) at second, Perez grounded one back up the middle to score the go-ahead run.
- Kreuscher came on to get the final six outs and pick up the save.
- Hill's home run was her ninth of the season, extending her career-high in a season.
- This was Hill's fourth 3-hit game of the year.
- Sydney Babik (Gilbert, Ariz.) got the start and earned her fifth win of the season, going the first five innings and striking out five.
- Amber Johnson (Belfair, Wash.) collected a pair of hits and is batting .350 (7-for-20) over her last nine games.
- Kreuscher's save was her third so far this season.
