New York, N.Y. -- John Downing has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Seton Hall baseball team to victory on Saturday against Iona with a stellar relief appearance. The honor is Downing's first weekly conference accolade of his career.

Downing tossed five scoreless innings to earn his fourth win of the season. Trailing 4-2 in the fifth inning against Iona, Downing closed out the game with a career-high four strikeouts and didn't allow a run, as the Pirates came back to win 5-4.

The Pirates will be back in action at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium this week when they host Saint Peter's at 4 p.m. on Wednesday before opening a three-game home series against Marist on Friday at 4 p.m. Seton Hall's Senior Day will take place before Saturday's game whiich is slated for 1 p.m.
