Pirates Fall Twice to Utah State to Close Georgia Classic

ATHENS, GA. – The Seton Hall softball team (1-7) closed out a weather-affected weekend at the Georgia Classic with a pair of losses to Utah State: an 8-3 loss on Saturday and a 3-1 loss on Sunday.

How It Happened – vs. Utah State (Saturday)

Utah State took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after a two-out rally. Despite getting two runners on in the bottom of the inning, the deficit remained.
The proceedings evened out in the fourth inning when Sophia DeMarco drove him Elisabeth Figliolino to make it a 1-1 game.
The tie would be broken by the Aggies in the fifth inning. Their seven-run frame that featured two home runs put them up 8-1 through five innings.
With one inning remaining, the Pirates would pull back two runs on an Andrea Perez home run in the seventh inning. They would collect no more, however, and the team fell 8-3.

How It Happened – vs. Utah State (Sunday)

Despite a shaky first inning in the circle with multiple walks, Karissa Dupuis ended the day with two scoreless innings.
After being relieved, the Pirates went down 3-0 only a few innings later after three RBI from the Aggies' Jazmin Ramirez.
Despite chances to even the game in the fifth and sixth inning, The Hall struggled to find the breakthrough hit.
In the seventh inning, Angelina Benitez would get the Pirates on the board with a RBI fielder's choice to make it a 3-1 game. Despite two more chances to tie the game, The Hall was unable to find the answer and fell 3-1.
