Pirates Continue Season at Paladin Invitational

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team will look to wrap up early-season tournament play when it travels to Greenville, South Carolina, to compete in the Paladin Invitational. Over the weekend, the Pirates will take on Furman, Winthrop, West Georgia and George Mason.

PREVIEWING WEST GEORGIA

West Georgia enters the weekend with a 5-12 record.
The lead bat of the Wolves' offense is Jenna Samuel. So far this season, Samuel is batting .480/.552/.760 with 10 runs scored, three home runs and 21 RBI.
In the circle, however, West Georgia has struggled this season. No pitcher has an ERA below 5.05 and a batting average allowed below .265.

PREVIEWING WINTHROP

Winthrop enters the weekend with a 7-7 record, including losses to Virginia Tech and South Carolina.
Offensively, the Eagles' offense centers around four bats. Rebecca Amos and Tia Beckham serve as strong contact hitters, with the pair hitting .438 and .333, respectively. Beckham, however, also has two home runs and 13 RBI. Behind them is the power duo of Peyton Bryden (5 HR,16 RBI) and Darrah Nickens (4 HR, 12 RBI)
In the circle, Lonna Addison helms Winthrop's rotation. In seven total appearances, six of which were starts, she has pitched 37.1 innings with a team-best 3.75 ERA and 31 strikeouts.

PREVIEWING FURMAN

Furman enters the weekend with a 1-13 record.
Offensively, the Paladins make plenty of contact. On their roster, six players are hitting .280 or better, headlined by Eden Frederick, who is slashing .389/.463/.472 with a team-leading 11 runs scored.
In the circle, Furman has struggled this season. Through 14 games, they have a combined staff ERA of 11.51 and a batting average allowed mark of .414.

PREVIEWING GEORGE MASON

George Mason enters the weekend with a 5-4 record, including wins over FDU and Hofstra.
At the forefront of the Patriots' offense is a trio of bats led by Tess Altevers Harris. This season, Altvers Harris is slashing .444/.449/.815 with six extra-base hits and 8 RBI.
Additionally, George Mason has two strong options in the circle. Alyssa Rangel has a 1.62 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 17.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, workhorse Abbey Lane has a 2.03 ERA with 13 strikeouts and a 3-1 record in 31 innings pitched.
