3/11/2026 9:12:00 PM | Softball
How It Happened – Game One
- Wagner struck first in the second inning with an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead. An inning later, Sophia DeMarco evened the proceedings up at 1-1 with an RBI double of her own, scoring Katey Brennan in the process.
- In the fourth frame, Loreale Blake scored on a fielding error with two outs to put The Hall out front 2-1. That lead would not last for long, however, when in the top of the fifth inning Wagner evened the game up at 2-2 on a bases-loaded walk.
- After a back-and-forth game to that point, the Pirates put away the Seahawks in the fifth inning. Erin Howard, Andrea Perez and Lea Kosinski each drove in a run on a pair of doubles and a sacrifice fly, pushing The Hall out front 5-2.
- The Hall would not stop there, however, when in the sixth inning, Gabby Mercado doubled home one more run to make it a 6-2 game. Kyra Kreuscher closed out the game in the circle, earning the Pirates a 6-2 win in game one.
- While the two sides were both spotless in the circle over the first two innings, it was the Pirates who drew first blood in the third inning. Perez laced another RBI double, while Angelina Benitez quickly followed that up by driving the shortstop home to give The Hall a 2-0 lead.
- While Rachael Schumann continued her tour de force performance in the circle, allowing one hit in five innings, the Pirates tripled their lead. Katey Brennan, Naya Martinez, Blake and Christina Ginex each collected an RBI in the fifth inning, extending the proceedings to a 6-0 game.
- Kreuscher returned to the circle in the final two innings of this doubleheader and continued her strong showings in relief this season. The senior allowed only a single baserunner on the way to a 6-0 Seton Hall win and a sweep of the Seahawks.
- With the wins, the Pirates move to 8-10 on the season and 0-3 in BIG EAST play.
- With today's games, Ginex and Brennan each reached 10 runs scored on the season.
- Perez's two-RBI day pushed her past 15 RBI on the season.
- With one double, she also reached 25 career two-baggers.
- Brennan also reached 25 career doubles.
- With two hits today, Martinez reached 10 hits on the season.
